    Housing Company not doing repair work

    Hi,

    I need help to understand where & how to approach against the Housing Company. The problem background is here.
    1. I noticed water leakage from roof/top of bathroom.
    2. Informed the Manager of housing company near by May 2012.
    3. He informed me that problem will we repaired in few weeks.
    4. Till now nothing happened still I noticed the water leakage from the same place.
    5. In between I visited many time to his office and he had different answer all the time like problem is fixed, the company work is not good that why its again leaking, they planned to change the company etc etc..

    Here I want your advise what should I do.
    Do I have any right to claim the damage cost for his way of work ?
    Can I claim cost of inconvenience happen to me and I am leaving in unhygienic conditions.

    Please help me by providing sufficient information.

    You don't mention:
    1) Are you owner of the apartment?
    2) Have you rented it?


    In case of 1) you should contact president of the house and explain him the problem.
    Both in cases 1) and 2) it is possible to claim damages you can proof. In case of 2), if you can't live in the apartment or it is very difficult, you can claim deductions to the rent.

    I am owner of the apartment and living there.

    Living condition is okay but I know the leaking water is coming due to shower and its spread all over bathroom. When water drop and after strike to surface its spread, I hope you can understand this. So whatever I have in bathroom is effected due to this.

    Its is someone shower water so mentally its look very dirty.

    • To whom have you contacted so far? (isännöitsijä?)
      You should immediately contact the governing body (taloyhtiön hallitus) of your house literally and ask for explanation. This "government of the house" is watching that "isännöitsijä" is doing his job and also paying his salary.
      You can mention that this body is responsible for the condition of the building and owner of the apartment can take actions by himself if the company doesn't do that. If you had already informed about this during May 2012, it is absolutely too long to fix the thing. If there are damages to surfaces in your apartment (like paint damages etc) they have to fix also those. If water is leaking from some other apartment, there can be long period of drying because concrete must be totally wet between the apartments.
