AI recovery burner from ASUS question?
I've used my ASUS laptop for around a month now but never bothered making the recovery disks using the AI Recovery Burner. I was wondering if I created these disks, would all my programs be saved onto them as well, or just my OS? I don't want any programs on the disk except the basic OS because if any of these programs contained viruses or problems, i wouldn't want them to be brought back onto a fresh reformat. If anyone knows what actually gets burned onto the DVDs, id appreciate some information.
Best Answer:
It will only create a factory image, and along with it those annoying useless trails and shortcuts they are paid to have on their machine. No installed programs will be saved.
But you can get software that will mirror your drive as an image.

Hey guys, I just recently purchased an ASUS Model U56E. As soon as I booted it straight from the box, I got a notification from the AI Recovery Burner, saying that I should create a backup of my factory settings right away. However, I didn't have any DVDs at the time and went ahead to go on and customize my computer with my own programs, downloading things, etc.
But now I finally have some blank DVDs, and a couple weeks later, am now ready to use the Burner. Are there any problems if I already have extra programs and stuff in addition to the factory defaults? If so how would it affect my backing up? Thanks for yours answers in advance.
Re:
GiggityNinja , IF you open disk managment you should see a fairly large partition (mine was around 19 GIG). This is what will be backed up to DVD and will retrun your system to factory setup (handy if you go to sell it). The changes you made are to the C partition, not this one.
Alll that being said, I did what azn4lif3s said, create an image of the C to an external HDD if you want to save time reloading windows with all the changes you made. Since I have an SSD I deleted the 19 GIG recovery partition.

Ei olisi tarvinnut kopioida noita kaikkia tänne.
Teoriassa on mahdollista jos haittaohjelma on päässyt palautusosiolle, josta levyt tehdään.
Käytännössä ei jos pitää tietoturvasta huolta.
