BANGKOK: -- Police discovered some 1,000 dog carcasses in a wooded area in Sakhon Nakhon's Muang district yesterday afternoon.
This was in response to complaints that some people had been dropping off carcasses in the forest behind the Pa Kho village in tambon Tha Rae over the past three days, which was spreading a foul smell in the area.
At about 3pm, police went to investigate and spotted four men on two motorbikes carrying four sacks to drop in the forest, but they fled as soon as they saw the officers.
Upon inspection, police found that the carcasses had been skinned and move of the meat removed. It is believed that dog-meat traders, suffering from police crackdown - particularly the raid of two dog-skin tanneries, were trying get rid of the carcasses as to cover their wrongdoing.

Koira on hyvää. Olen syönyt sitä Kiinassa. Thaimaassa maaseudalla jos riisisadot eivät ole onnistuneet syödään koirat pois. Suomessa syötiin koiraa sodan aikana. Tarjoa joskus jollekin Intialaiselle lehmää tai jutskulle sikaa.
Kyllä sakonnakhonin yläpuolella on erinomaisia koiraravintoloita. Eivät suinkaan puutteesa syö vaan suurena herkkuna. No joskus tulee syötyä kun siellä päin poikkean. Täällä keskisessä Thaimaassa syömme myös riisirottia. Eipä hassumpaa tuokaan. Ennakkoluulot pois niin kokee oikean Thaimaan.
En voi sanoa olevani maaseutu-ihminen mutta pari x nähnyt kun jotain rottia paistoivat. Oliko ne riisirottia tai mitä lie, laihoja ja luisia olivat. Maistuivat pask'alta. Katsoin etteivät sitä itsekään niin herkkuna pitäneet. Pikku lisiä ruokapöytään; tai kyökin lattialla siellä syötiin.
Seuraavana päivänä olikin lattialiinalla iso lihava sianpää. Arvatkaapa kuka sen maksoi? Siitä päästä muuten veisteltiinkin aika maukkaita siivuja. En olisi uskonut. Kaverini Pavekin sitä vähän ensin vierasti mutta nälkä ajoi maistelemaan. Siinä juotiin sitten kaljaa ja petroolia päälle ja kaikilla oli ihan kivaa...
Illalla tulivat aina kylän pojat, akat menivät muihin tiloihin sillä aikaa kun me vedimme heinää ja juttelimme miehisiä.
Täytyykin syödä joskus, varmasti hyvää, liekö sinäkin jo vähän sitä mutustanut tietämättäsi, tai ainakin hitusen rotan liha kebabia Marmariksen auringon alla.
Luulin, että viesti koskee sitä kaiken tietävää keittiöapulaista ! Mutta ruoastahan täällä pulistiin.
