Michael Jackson’s father has been released from a Los Angeles hospital after successful surgery for bleeding ulcers, his attorney says.
Joseph Jackson, a former steelworker from Gary, Indiana, who turned five of his sons into the pop sensation the Jackson 5, was released from the hospital on Saturday, lawyer Debra Opri said on Tuesday.
“Everything is fine, it was a 40-minute procedure that closed up the ulcers and he should be on the move again soon,” Opri said. She said members of Jackson’s family visited him while he was in the hospital but declined to say if Michael Jackson was among them.
The Jackson family patriarch was notably absent from a hearing earlier this month in Michael Jackson’s child molestation case that was attended by most members of the family. He has attended other hearings in the case.
