THE TRIAL BEGINS
Opening Statements and Media Speculation


We've been waiting a long time and watched as the world's press has eagerly disseminated the lies, deceit and scandal put forth by all of Michael Jackson's most vociferous detractors since authorities descended on Neverland Ranch on 18 November 2003.
This week, the opening statements have been heard in court and the media circus of speculation, (bad) interpretation and constant commentary has rolled into town.

Make no mistake; Michael Jackson is the most famous entertainer in history. Therefore every radio programme, every tv show, every newspaper, magazine, pop-culture rag and media-focused website you visit from this week will likely have its own spin on the case against Michael.

Undoubtedly, the press will focus only on the shocking and outlandish claims of the prosecution; expect Michael to be proclaimed 'Guilty!' by the world's tabloid hacks before his defense team have had a chance to speak.

And when that happens, don't despair. Take some comfort in the knowledge that you knew it would happen this way. Laugh at the boring and predictable behaviour of a bewilderingly-biased and negative press who favour sales-enhancing lies over truth and justice.

Remember, too, that this case is a joke. Anyone who has taken a more than fleeting interest in this trial will know that the Prosecution are in trouble.

Michael will be victorious not because he has a great defense team. He will be victorious not because he has many millions of dollars to 'pay-away' his problems.

Michael will be victorious because he is innocent.

Be strong and remember that you are not alone; in supporting Michael, you join with literally millions of others around the world who are intelligent enough to see through the lies.

Welcome to the first of our weekly trial round-ups. This is designed to give you a quick bulletin of what has happened during court proceedings over the past week.
We know how difficult and time consuming all of the day to day information can be, so these round-ups are here to provide you with just the simple main points.

Here's what happened in the past week, starting on Monday 28th February...

MONDAY... Opening Statements

Tom Sneddon gives Prosecution's opening statement.
States Michael Jackson is a child molester and Neverland is a lure for children.
Claims Bashir documentary caused chaos and led to Accuser's family being held captive.
Described two alleged incidents of Michael Jackson molesting Gavin Arvizo.
Says the Accuser and his brother were shown pornography.
Claims Michael Jackson gave children wine in soda cans.
Thomas Mesereau gives Defence's opening statement.
Says the accusing family have a history of lying for money, especially the Mother.
Questions Prosecution's timeline, saying it's an absurd time to abuse a child when the world is watching.

TUESDAY... Bashir Takes The Stand

Jury watch Living with Michael Jackson documentary.
Tom Sneddon asked Martin Bashir to authenticate the documentary.
Bashir refuses to answer questions during cross-examination.
Tom Mesereau finished his opening statement.
Claims Michael Jackson wasn't at Neverland during certain dates Prosecution allege molestation happened.
No DNA evidence.
Michael Jackson does read adult material, but does not show them to children.
Claims Mother's attorney said she wants money.
Says the Accuser and his brother stole alcohol and behaved badly at Neverland.

WEDNESDAY... Ann Kite Takes The Stand

States she worked for Michael Jackson as a crisis manager for six days following Bashir documentary.
Mentions '93 allegations in front of the jury.
Claims she was concerned how Michael Jackson's employees were behaving concerning the accusing family.
Tom Mesereau attacks her credibility as she admits to never meeting or speaking to Michael Jackson.
She claims Michael Jackson's employees were working against him.
Mesereau brings up Sony/ATV catalogue, Kite admits Sony wanted catalogue back and Michael Jackson's employees might have wanted that too.
Mesereau has Kite repeatedly confirm that Michael Jackson knew nothing about what his employees were doing concerning the family.

THURSDAY... Accuser's Sister Takes The Stand

Sheriff's Deputy Al Lafferty takes stand first, testifies about video and photo evidence.
Accuser's sister Davellin Arvizo is questioned by Tom Sneddon.
She says her family were flown to Miami on the day of Bashir documentary.
On flight back says Michael Jackson and her brother shared a soda can.
Claims seeing Michael Jackson pour wine into cups for her brothers at Neverland.
Says her family were held captive and were told their lives were threatened.
Claims her family were forced to take part in a rebuttal film in February 2003.

FRIDAY... Accuser's Sister Cross-Examined

Jury was shown accusing family's rebuttal video that was never aired. The family are seen to heap praise upon Michael Jackson.
Davellin Arvizo claims that Michael Jackson was always hugging and kissing her brother on the cheek or the head.
She claims her Father molested her as a child and she did not find out until later. Filed a police report against him for molestation, false imprisonment and terrorist threats.
Says her family did not see the Bashir documentary even though her Mother references it during the rebuttal video.
Admits her Mother tried to make statements more dramatic.
Admits she lied to social services for certain questions.
Mesereau states that she previously told sheriff's detectives that she assumed her brothers were drinking wine and didn't mention seeing Michael Jackson pour the wine.

The trial will resume today, with Tom Mesereau's cross-examination of Davellin Arvizo still to be completed. Her brother Star is expected to be next with the Accuser Gavin Arvizo expected to testify at some point this week.
