Wake Finland

It´s somehow sad but quite exposing that to become a leading intellectual of Finland is that easy, that it takes only from H. Tala´s side to patiently underline the citizens´right just to speak about the taboo that children has to learn swedish language at the school. Learn that minority language without any real and just reason that an educated man could accept as an argument. And all efforts to criticize the situation and the party who owns "officially" the monopoly to all swedish-language-related-things in the allegedly "bilingual"country -by it´s own right- are branded almost criminal beforehand. Even to fascism or "hitlerism". Does not sound sane, huh ?

What does that tell about the country I just guess ! And what does the censorship of the theme equally in the political arena and in the media, in the high and low ranks of the political scene, in the governmental parties and in the so-called "opposition" too, tell about the ability of these democracy-advertising people even to negotiate on the subject rationally, - and more impotantly of the freedom of the ordinary people in the country! There has been even discussions of the need of police to interfere to the question because the people don´t want to be silent and tacit anymore. Wake up Finns ! Clear up this awful mess and start to behave like civilized ones once again.

Tala is a great and warm figure in the midst of the relic-fixated cynical obscurantists in the toothless and hollow administrative parties. The one-man-opposition. The obvious centre of gravity in the near-future cultural life and politics. He reminds me of Lennart Meri somehow. Not a glib ladykiller in the miami-vice-style-suit but like an old incorruptible judge in a small rural village. Old man, but still seemingly young enough to frighten the younger ones, who are only succesful to anaesthetize the whole country with their old hypocrite doctrines and lithurgies about the "bilinguality". We are living interesting times, my friends.
