"Generation 10 Corolla Expected to Be Produced in Toyota Tianjin in 2007
2005-6-14 9:30:00
Toyota Tianjin No.3 Plant is bracing up for construction within this year with a view to launching production in 2007. Its first model for production will be the next generation (Generation 10) Corolla. Its initial production capacity will be 200,000.
The plant will reportedly become Toyota’s fifth production line in China. The new installed capacity plus that of Toyota Guangzhou, which will launch production next year, will bring Toyota’s Chinese production well over 500,000. Currently, Toyota’s No.1 Plant in Tianjin has a designed annual production capacity of 120,000 (for Vios and Corolla). Its No.2 plant has a production capacity of 100,000, for Crown and Reiz, which is due to be launched to the market."
Autoexpress UK:
"The world's best-selling car is about to be reborn! Toyota's all-new Corolla is out on test ready for a 2006 launch,
and this week's mag's pictures reveal how the design is an evolution of the current machine.
However, sources in Japan have told us the rear end is inspired by the home market-only family model, named 'Ist'.
Three and five-door prototypes with disguised bodywork are lapping Germany's Nürburgring circuit,
with engineers refining the suspension settings on the new platform underpinning the car."
