Man who stayed for 2 months at comic book cafe without paying arrested for fraud
NAGAOKA, Niigata -- A man who stayed at a comic book cafe for nearly two months and escaped without paying 520,000 yen for his stay and drinks he ordered has been arrested, police said.

Kentaro Shimada, 33, a jobless man of no fixed address, is accused of fraud. Police are grilling him over the motives behind his crime.

Shimada stayed in a private room of a comic cafe in Nagaoka, where customers can read comic books while drinking cafe or tea, from Aug. 2 to Sept. 26, and escaped without paying 520,000 yen for his use of the room and the 140 drinks he ordered, local police said.

Whenever an employee demanded payment, he avoided doing so by saying he would pay later, according to investigators. (Mainichi)

Vähän samaa luokka kuin tämä:

Japanese Internet investor Daisuke Enomoto, set to become the world's fourth "space tourist", plans to dress as Gundam character Char Anzanable during his $20-million dollar flight. All the self-professed Gundam-otaku requires is the aproval of the Russian Space Agency, which operates the space-tours for Space Adventures Inc.

Space Adventures Inc. has so far sent three "Space Tourists" to the International Space Station on Russian Soyuz space-craft for US$20-million a piece. Enomoto, former board director of Livedoor, a popular Japanese blog community (the 37th most popular website on the Internet according to Alexa), is set to make his trip into space in late 2006.
