Volkswagen Golf V.
Issue: Oct, 2000
It's hard to imagine, but nevertheless its true: Volkswagen began working on the next generation Golf about a year ago. Insiders state the general layout of the car is now finished. However, it exists only on the drawing boards of the car designers and details aren't finished yet. This computer illustration is an educated guess as to how the new model could look. The finished product is expected to be presented at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Golf V will have the A-pillar pulled further to the front which gives it an almost van-like shape. The new model will grow substantially-an increase of 5 in. in length and possibly more than 8 in. in wheelbase, making the cabin much more roomy. And last but not least, the turn signals are mounted in the side mirrors.
While the new Volkswagen will still be recognizable as a Golf (see the wide C-pillar), it will incorporate basic design elements of the D1 luxury sedan that Volkswagen will soon be releasing. Top-manager Ferdinand Piech has already announced that by the time the new Golf hits the road, all Volkswagen gasoline engines (and that should include other brands of the group, too) will be direct injection GDI engines.

Kehitys on varmasti harpannut aimoaskelen 70-luvusta.
Ehkä vain fiilistelen, mutta kuitenkin.
