Sorry but couldn't find anywhere else to post this. I have recently followed my elderly parents and returned to Finland from the U.S. after having spent most of my life there.
I read some Finnish but cannot write or speak it yet. Working on it, though.
Where are all the foreigners in this town/city?
I would love to meet other LGBT people in the Helsinki region -- it might be easier to meet up with other foreigners at first. I am half Finnish by blood but feel a bit out of place and am single as my S.O. decided to stay in the US.
I'm not young (only at heart), am already 35, so that may or may not rule out some possibilities.
Anyone out there who knows where I might bump into nice people?

Hi!
I'm a Finn myself, but have spent quite many years abroad, so maybe i can understand a bit how you feel. I have quite many foreign friends here in Helsinki, some of which are also gay, but I don't know of any specific place where they "congregate" other than the usual, e.g. women's parties at Ravintola Kaisaniemi or Hehku club at DTM (though I hear it's shut down for the time due to renovation in the building).
I can try to inquire from my foreign friends for better ideas to meet new (gay) people and get back to you on it. I've met my foreign friends mainly at uni, or throgh mutual friends. I'm not much of a clubber myself...
