Us, the Finns are not really a part of Scandinavia, even though we try to believe we are, and many of us speak about ourselves as Scandinavians, and Western Europeans. But we have a lot more common with the old Soviet mentality than with Scandinavians. We are passive, easy to manipulate and lead. We respect anyone in authority. The trick is to get into a position of authority, and you'll be laughing.
Can you mention some specifics about the law that was based on jealousy? Being average in EVERY way is not yet compulsory, but I believe it's being discussed in the Parliament at the moment.

Yes, Finland is almost as bad in obeing gov. offices as the USA. I have never seen such obedient sheep as in the USA when a plane broke down and we were treated liek shit at the airport. Any French or Italian would have rioted loudly, but the Americans did not even complain. Not to mention the IRS forms, which are impossible to understand (Finnish IRSforms are super easy to fill in, plus most of us don't have to fill them at all), and the L.A. auto registration center, which is the last Brezhnevian service since the USSR went down.
Couldn't help bursting out in loud laugh when I read your message. Actually, there are many Finns in USA, who have compared the American system to the past Communist Russia system. I guess big hegemonies alweays resemble each other.
