- Vulnerability in the Opera browser -

Madrid, April 8 2003 - SecurityFocus has reported -at
http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/7271/info/ - that a security problem has
been detected in version 6.01 of the Opera browser for Windows, which could
allow the execution of commands.
Tests reveal that an attacker could use some potentially dangerous Java
methods from within JavaScript to build a web page with the JavaScript code
which could be used to execute commands. If a user visited the web page with
a vulnerable version of Opera, the commands could be run on the client
system.
Tests on the latest version of Opera, -7.02-, indicate that it is not
affected by the problem.
Users of Opera 6.x are advised to update to the latest version, available at
http://www.opera.com/
