Re TOPFIELD TF6000 COC

I raised this problem with Topfield and this is what they said....

" According to the developer, most of you issues have been fixed with the latest firmware.
And we are going to release a new firmware, which have your radio-bugs fixed.
Regarding OTA, it is nearly impossible.
To be able to transmit firmwares over the air periodically, we should hire a frequency dedicated to OTA from a broadcaster.
In case that there are very serious bugs, of course, we will hire one, but not now.
So I wish you do firmware update for yourself. "

OTA`= Over The Air... the software fix is transmitted over the TV network. But Topfield are not going to send it OTA! So this is what I said to them.....

1- I have seen many chat rooms forums where this problem is being discussed. Are you happy for me to report that Topfield will NOT update OTA? and this is what they said in return

""Regarding OTA, I'm sorry, but we cannot do that.
I feel your complaint is very rude, nearly a menace, so very unhappy.

I don't think that OTA should be within the range of the guarantee because

1) the radio problem is due to the change of broadcasting format, and
2) we are about to release a new firmware with that fixed bug, (so the receiver will not have serious problems any more)
3) even though you cannot use OTA, you have a method available to do firmware update.

If your dealer requires us to refund your receiver, we will refuse it although he thus does not treat our products any longer.

So now we know that

(a) owing a digital receiver receiver from Topfield requires the owner to have a PC and a serial cable in order for it to work correctly! And

(b) Topfield will refuse to compensate dealers for returned equipment that does not work because they think that dealers or their customers should apply the updates to fix the bugs that Topfield left in their firmware.

I'm sorry that you think I am rude. Its just that I always thought that in this world, the consumer has a right to receive good service and if he does not get it he should complain. They say that in this consumer world, a satisfied customer will tell perhaps one or two people of his satisfaction, but a disatisfied customer will tell ten times as many. Maybe more than ten times. Which is why most companies invest so much money in customer satisfaction.

Fortunately I think that the dealer network in Finland will apply these fixes to these machines. Finnish traders are quite honest business people. But I am not so sure that they will be buying more equipment from Topfield if they have to apply the fixes that Topfield could provide OTA but refuse to do so!
