    Kubuntun 8.04 versioissa tulee samanlainen, sen kuitenkin saa helposti muokattua kun valitset; Järjestelmän asetukset > Monitori ja näyttö, josta voit valita käyttämäsi monitorin mallin.

    Esimerkkinä:

    vaaka 28.0-33.0 pysty 43-72
    näytön koko max 800x600

    Oikea (luettelosta valittu) Nokia 447V
    vaaka 30.0-64.0 pysty 50-100
    näytön koko max 1280x1024

    Siis noin perseestä on näytön tunnistus Ubuntussa.

    Kokeilin myös asentaa Ubuntuun KDE:n, mutta sen järjestemäasetuksiin ei vaan tullut näytönsäätöä kuten Kubuntussa on valmiina. Myös Kubuntu 8.10 on muuttunut yhtä surkeaksi, siitäkin puuttuu tuo säätömahdollisuus.

    Tässä vielä Kubuntun xorg.conf itse valitun näytön jälkeen, ihan oikea, kuten vanhemmissakin Ubuntuissa oli:

    Vanhimmat

    Noinhan se usein menee Ubuntussa. Tosin asetukset on korjattavissa, vaatii vain kärsivällisyyttä ja yritteliäisyyttä.

    Minulle tuli Ubuntu 8.04:n ydinpäivitys pari-kolme viikoa sitten ja näyttö oli sen jälkeen 800 x 600 resoluutiolla ja 50 hz virkistystaajuudella pitkään, on nyt jo korjaantunut, mutta suljettuja ajureita ei ole saatavissa vieläkään. Lieneekö putkinäyttöjen ongelma, alkavat olemaan menneen ajan vehkeitä.
