Ei kannata Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:n kanssa pitää mitään kiirettä jos on toimiva käyttis.. Sama se oli Mac OS X 10.6:lla, että 10.6.2 oli sitten riittävän hyvä. Nyt se on luotettava ollut pitkään, että siihen kyllä voi vaihtaa mutta Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:n kanssa kannattaa odottaa jos on toimiva käyttis alla.
Minulla on XP. Siinä on 14 vuoden tuki. Kaikki viat on aikaa sitten korjattu ja siinä toimii kaikki. Turvapäivityksiä siihen on tullut jatkuvasti, joten sillä pärjää vielä todella pitkään. Luultavasti siirryn Windows 11:n käyttäjäksi sitten joskus.
Windows XP:n elinkaari on pilkottu neljään osaan. Nykyisen Windows XP SP3:n elinkaari on kuusi vuotta, ja siitä on kulunut kaksi. Vikoja siinä on loputtomasti, ei niitä päivityksiä muuten tulisi jos ei olisi. Jokainen tietoturva-aukko kun on samalla myös virhe ohjelmassa.
Windows XP:n elinkaarta pystyy venyttämään Windows 8:n saakka, tosin parin vuoden kuluttua Windows XP ei toimi oikein laitteiden kanssa yhteen, eikä uudet ohjelmajulkaisut Windows XP:n kanssa.
