Aina voi pelin loppuvaiheessa, väsyneenä ja silleen tapahtua mitä vaan ;)
Sopupelistä on turha puhua mitään, mutta kuten jossain jääkiekon mm-kisoissa kun Suomella oli mahdollisuus tappiolla tiputtaa Ruotsi, Peltomaan Tinke taisi todeta "Voidaan sielä jokunen ylimääräinen jalkakikka nähdä".
Italian on turha itkeä, pelimatematiikka oli kaikkien tiedossa ennen kisoja.
aivan turha itkeä mistään sopupelistä. hyvänen aika kuinka buffon & kumpp. vollottavat reilun pelin henkeen...heh. taitaa olla vitsi, sillä jos puolet serie A.n seuroista on korruptiotutkinnassa jne, on aika vähän pohjaa syytellä muita. Varsinkaa kun ei ole mitään syytä moiseen. Olisivat voittaneet jommankumman, ruotsin tai tanska,

Pelimatematiikka ei näytä olleen *kenenkään* tiedossa, kun kaikki vain väittävät, että Tanskan ja Ruotsin 2-2 -tuloksella Italialla ei olisi ollut mitään tehtävissä.
niinhän se on! 2-2 tuloksella Italialla ei ollut mitään tehtävissä. koska ekana katsotaan keskinäisten ottelun maaliero ja sitten tehdyt maalit. Tanska 2 ja Italia 1.
Vaikka Italia olisi tehnyt miljardi maalia bulgariaa vastaan, niin sillä ei olisi ollut mitään tekemistä sen kanssa miten paljon maaleja italia on tehnyt Ruotsia ja Tanskaa vastaan. Keskinäiset ottelut olivat eiliseen saakka menneet 1-1 (swe-ita) ja 0-0 (den-ita). Siispä: koska tulos oli 2-2, italia oli edelleen vain yhdessä maalissa, kun taas tanska kahdessa ja ruotsi kolmessa -> Tanska ja Ruotsi jatkoon. Niin yksinkertaista se matematiikka on.

Luulen, että ymmärrän, mitä tarkoitat, mutta en kuitenkaan vielä usko, että tuollaista pykälää sisältyi turnauksen sääntöihin.
Uefan sivuilla tasakilpailusäännöt selitetään näin:
"If teams finish level on points, then the winner of the match between the sides in question will finish highest, or should they have drawn, goal difference, followed by goals scored, qualifying record for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2004™, a fair play ranking and finally either a penalty shoot-out or drawing of lots."

Equality of points after the group matches
6.16
If several teams are equal on points on completion of all the matches in their
group, the following criteria will be used to determine the rankings in the
order given:
a) Number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question
b) Goal difference in the matches among the teams in question
c) Number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (if
more than two teams finish equal on points)
d) Goal difference in all the group matches
e) Number of goals scored in all the group matches
f) Coefficient from the qualifying competitions for the 2000/02 World Cup
and 2002/04 UEFA European Football Championship (points obtained
divided by the number of matches played)
g) Fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament)
h) Drawing of lots

If two teams meeting in one of the last group matches have the same
number of points, the same goal difference and the same number of goals,
and if this match stands at a draw at the end of normal time, the ranking of
these two teams will be determined by kicks from the penalty mark
(Article 14), rather than by criteria listed under 6.16 a) to h).
Quarter-finals
6.18
The winners and runners-up in each group play the quarter-finals over one
match, as follows:
B1 vs A2 C1 vs D2
B2 vs A1 D1 vs C2
Semi-finals

The four winners of the quarter-finals play the semi-finals over one match, as
follows:
Winners of B1-A2 vs Winners of D1-C2

The winners of the semi-finals contest the final.
Golden goal
6.21
If, upon completion of normal playing time, the final, a semi-final or a quarter-
final ends in a draw, extra time is played until a decisive goal (“golden goal”)
is scored. This period of extra time must not, however, exceed 2 x 15
minutes. If a decisive goal has not been scored by the end of the extra time,
kicks from the penalty mark (Article 14) determine the winning team.
No enpä menekään sanomaan, kumpi on virallisempi. Toisessa puhutaan kultaisesta maalista ja toisessa hopeisesta.
