Should you Buy a 2004 Audi A8L?: Yes. Why? Style and exclusivity. In our town (New York City) a Mercedes is a dime a dozen. No one bats an eye at the S500 anymore. In fact, the S500 is used as a taxi for the rich -- talk about droll. BWM's ill-designed iDrive is enough to stop us from recommending the 745 over the A8L. This new Audi has everything you'll be looking for in a well-engineered, well-design, high-end German luxury car. Hieman huono valikoima on täällä USA:ssa Audilla. Onneks hinnat kompensoi hieman vitutusta auton hankintaa suunnitellessa :-)
2001 malleissa (joita saa kohtuu hintaan):
- jos haluaa Avantin niin ei saa turbona paitsi S-mallit.
- 1.8 T on pienin tarjolla oleva A4 malli.
- 2.7 Biturbo quattro ja 2.8 V6 A6:ssa pienimmät
Allroad 2.7 V6 biturbo quattro tuntuu ainoalta vaihtoehdolta jos hakee tehoa ja tilavuutta. Siihen sitä kait joutuu tyytymään kun ei ole dieseleitä tarjolla.
Viime viikonloppuna kerkes yks -01 Allroad mennä "nenän edestä" n. 25 000 $ hintaan.
Maileja tais olla mittarissa n. 50 000.
Audi kauppias sanoi dieselautojen tuonnin esteenä olevan USA:n huono diesel laatu. Sitten kun oppivat tekemään puhtaampaa dieseliä niin menee auditkin pakokaasutesteistä läpi.
VW Passatteja on jo tullu 130 hp dieseleinä, mutta ei taas nelivetona. Moottori on 2.0 L eli ilmeisesti eri kone kuin euroopassa tarjolla olevat dieselit.
Suomessa ajoin uuden korimallin 3.0 TDI A6:sta. Todella mahtava auto ajaa. Kävin töissä näyttämässä sitä vierailulla olleille jenkkikolleegoille. Siinä oli kavereille hieman ihmettelemistä että "miks ei kone nakuta ja miks ei pöllytä savua" :-)
Luulen että näillä paikallisilla polttoaineen kulutukisilla ja bensan hinnoilla tulee kohta jenkeillekin diesel autot houkutteleviksi vaihtoehdoiksi. Bensa maksaa 1,8 $/gallona (3,8L) mutta keskikulutukset varmaan yli 16 litraa /100 km useimmilla autoilla.
Halvemmaksi tuli polttoaineet suomessa A4 TDi:llä kuin täällä Pontiac GrandPrix'llä. Pers tuntumaltaan ei tehoeroa lastutettuun TDi:hin edes juuri huomaa.
