I recently purchased the Elisa Viihde package with full-rate broadband connection. Here I am sharing my experience for your reference if you are considering the package.
1) The promised 20 Mpbs bandwidth can only reach about 13 Mbps at the best case. Most times, the bandwidth hoovers around 10 Mbps only. That is achieved with my old adsl modem. that may depend on the place you live - the phone line length and quality from the nearest connection hub.
2) Elisa customer service suggested me to use the new modem that I received with the Elisa Viihde package. Guess what? The actual speed dropped to around 5 Mbps, with repeated testing, although the router itself indicates 15 Mbps! Switching back to the old modem, the bandwidth got back to around 10 Mbps.
3) The Elisa Viihde digibox is the worst quality electronic device I have even used. Not 'one of the worst' but definitely the worst. Below are the facts why i rate it so.
- The boot up time of the device is 1 minutes 45 seconds. From either safety or energy-saving point of view, I don't like to leave power adapters in sockets without be switched off. I have wait for about 2 minutes from power on to seeing pictures on TV.
- The digibox got stuck 6 times in one evening during my set up process, which I guess is caused by software crashes. You can do nothing to bring the digibox back except pull off the power and re-connect it.
- The response speed of digibox to user action is very slow, it takes couple of seconds to respond any remote control actions. Quite often, it would stuck for a longer while.
- The remote control effective range and angle is very limited. I can't use the remote control from 2.5m away, right at the front of the device! I have to actually position the remote control high up and pointing it to the digibox upside at a downwards angle to make it work. Unbelievable! I have no idea where the infrared receiving window is on the device.
- After getting everything done according to instruction and Elisa customer service, I still can see some basic channels - no HD channels or some other 'premium' channels included in the basic package can be seen.
Be warned if you want to purchase this package.

I have the older silver coloured Netgem digibox, which is quite decent.
Achieved download rates are around 12 Mbps with the supplied adsl modem (white box with dark angled line), apparently of Bewan origin. - janne1923

- I called Elisa Viihde service line, most of the problems are solved. I have to praise the quality and shot waiting time from Elisa phone service. The first call was answered within seconds, which was a big surprise to me. Because from my previous experience with Elisa service hot line, I already plugged in a head set to my phone and prepared for long waiting time. I don't know whether I just got lucky or Elisa has really increased their phone service capacity.
- The digibox is more stable after firmware update, though the response to remote control is still slow, but almost acceptable. The remote control sensitivity seems also better. The boot up time is still around 2 minutes.
- The service person on the line was very knowledgeable. He answered directly to my questions with correct information and solutions.
- My earlier speed test of 5Mbps with the router was because the dedicated Elisa Router reserves about 10 Mbps for the digibox when there is any HD channel selected for show, which I tested as true. My PC could get over 13 Mbps when the digibox is off, and about 9-10 Mbps when non-HD channels are shown.
- My earlier problem of not able to see HD and some other channels is because Elisa Viihde requires the specific connection - the dedicated modem/router has to be used as the primary modem and the digibox has to be connected to the dedicated router port with no other switch in between. Earlier, I tried to use another modem, or had a router in between and that caused the problem.
- For non-HD channels, the picture quality fed through HDMI looks worse than my earlier digibox with analog AV connection. The digital artifacts are so obvious. The HD channels are much better but they are too few in the basic channel package..
- Claimed recording feature is not so useful because many channels do not allow recording, such as EuroSprot, CNN etc.

In addition, some channels received through cable can not be recorded, e.g. DW, TV5Monde. Channels you mentined are IP-channels in basic ElisaViihde.

Really? So if I use another ADSL modem and whatever router, I can get way better speeds? Because I've got some lying around.On the other hand, I'm not using the Elisa router now, and still my dl-rate is around 12Mb ay best (announced max is 24). I've set the modem to bridged and use a separate router.
