Jos tulivuori "syöpyy" täysin, jäähtynyt magma kanavissa ja syöttöraoissa (tarkoittaa varmaan rakoa, josta magmaa tulee kanaviin, en ole ihan varma)paljastuu. Jyrkät, syöpyneet jäänteet piipun tapaisista kanavista, joka johtaa purkausaukkoon, kutsutaan vulkaaniseksi niskaksi.
