Heips,
Olen yritellyt asentaa ati radeon ajureita(9800 pro) fedora core 3:lle.
Suoraan atin rpm -paketista(atin ohjeistuksen mukaisesti) ne eivät näytä menevän ja löysinkin parikin linkkiä keskustelupalstoilta, joissa neuvottiin miten ko. juttu hoidetaan.
Kysyisin kuitenkin onko joku saanut toimimaan atin 3d-ajurit fedora core 3:ssa? Jos on, niin olisin kiitollinen tiedosta, miten se hoituu.. ;)

Jollei ohjetekstit ole ihan vanhentuneita:
Q6: What Linux kernel version is needed for this driver?
A6: Version 2.4 of the Linux kernel is required for this driver. This kernel version is installed as standard in many current Linux distributions. Support for the newer version 2.6 kernel is under development and should be available in a future release.
Toinen seikka on se, että uudemmat Fedorat käyttävät Xorg.conf -tiedostoa eikä enää XF86Config-4 -tiedostoa. Xfree on vaihtunut X.orgin X:ksi.
Q7: What versions of XFree86 are supported in this driver?
A7: Driver packages are available for XFree86 versions 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3, which are most common in current Linux distributions. Support for the newer XFree86 version 4.4 is under development and should be available in a future release.

I just wrestled this problem last night until 4am. Here are the key points to solve it:
1. xorg 6.8 has a bug. DRI is broken. You have to downgrade it to 6.7. Get it from FC2 updates site.
2. Install ATI Radeon proriety driver.
3. Use xorg.conf file here: http://www.stanford.edu/~fenn/linux/xorg.conf
There's still one strange problem though. 3D acceleration works fine in Gnome but not in Xfce. I'm trying to solve it.
Following are VERY GOOD references:
http://www.stanford.edu/~fenn/linux/radeon.shtml (this site shows you how to get it run without downgrade xorg BUT you have to turn of DRI)
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/ar...hp/t-26697.html (this site advises to downgrade xorg)
Noh, yritinhän minä noita xorg:n Core 2 -paketteja asennella, mutta tuli semmoinen liuta dependance -herjoja, että heitin suosiolla sikseen.. Eli jos haluaa pelailla, niin kannattanee asennella Core 2
Fedorasta...
