Did Vyas speak hindi? Or Tukaram?
So to you being christian is a matter of culture. Isn't it different from the culture where you live? How can you be christian if you do not know latin or greek or aramean?
How can you be a Hindu if you don't speak Sanskrit? That's the language of the scriptures. This is a more valid concern, if you want to go down this alley. A good majority of Indian born Hindus hardly know the language. Heck, many of them aren't even familiar with the prasthaana-traya through translations.
Indeed, how can you be a Christian if you don't speak Hebrew and Aramaic for the Old Testament and Koine Greek for the New Testament? And a pure Christian? What's a pure Christian anyway, someone following Luther's medieval reform?
If it were a matter of language and culture, we ought to be worshiping Overlord Ukko. That would be truly Finnish. One should learn the entire mythos compliled by Vyasa Elias. Many of the old hymns actually jibe with the anushtup meter.
