Kone ei meinaa aina käynnistyä vaan sahaa n. 5 sekuntia ja joskus lähtee vasta toisella yrittämällä. Tämä tapahtuu etenkin sateen jälkeen ja kun auto on seissyt n. 1,5 tuntia. Autoon on hiljattain tehty laaja huolto(BMWII).

It could be many things, the "after rain" rather suggest to ignition malfunction.
I guess there in more than 100.000km in the M40.
Check the manufacturing date in the distributor cup. BMW orders to replace it in each 100.000km, as well as the rotor, regardless how it looks like.
-Anyway, inspect for extensive wear, and cracks. Look if you find any moisture in it?
-Spark plugs?
-HT ignition cables? ( Inspect the for cracks, check and clean the end connectors, run the engine in dark (well, now better inside a garage) and search if you find any visible sparks somewhere in the ignition system.
But, if it starts for a second try, it rather suggests to a fuel feed problem.
You shold check the pressure in the fuel system.
Sometimes the fuel pressure regulator, or the back-pressure valve (in the fuel pump) are defective, or it can be a general leak in the fuel system.
