powerful diesel-engined car
240 kW (326 bhp): With this extremely impressive power output, the new Audi A8 4.2 TDI quattro puts itself ahead of all the other diesel-engined cars on the international market. The entirely redeveloped 4.2-litre, eight-cylinder biturbo engine accelerates the lightweight saloon with its aluminium body from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62 mph) in just 5.9 seconds. Crash test in the USA: Top marks again
for the Audi A4
The renowned Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the USA has awarded the Audi A4 its highest rating of “Best Pick”. This result is the outcome of a side crash test which the Ingolstadt-built saloon completed in the USA. This means that together with its result in the frontal crash performed at 64 km/h, the A4 has earned the top rating of “Double Best Pick”.

Engine of the Year: Award for the
2.0 TFSI Audi engine
Audi's pioneering achievements in the domain of petrol injection technology are not restricted to success on the racetrack. The 2.0 TFSI has now been awarded the title of "Engine of the Year". Audi is the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in the spheres of both motor racing and volume production.

Ceramic brakes for the 12-cylinder Audi A8
Audi is presenting a new braking technology destined for its series production debut. The brand's flagship model, the 12-cylinder A8, will in future be available with ceramic brakes as an option. As well as quadrupling brake service life compared to conventional steel discs, the new brakes also offer outstanding braking power, even when the car is being driven to its limit, as well as supreme resistance to fading. The far lower weight also heralds benefits in terms of ride comfort and handling characteristics by reducing the unsprung masses.
