Suzuki, Honda recalling over 225,000 cars at

TOKYO, Sept 6 (AFP) - Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp.
and Honda Motor Co. Ltd. will recall more than
225,000 cars in Japan and overseas due to
defective transmission parts and headlight
switches, the government said Thursday.
Suzuki is to recall 146,338 Carry, Every and
Scrum minivehicles made between December 1998 and
February 2000, the Land, Infrastructure and
Transport Ministry said in a statement.
Suzuki, controlled 20.1 percent by US auto giant
General Motors Corp, is to replace defective
cables in their manual transmissions.
"We exported 16,000 modified versions of the same
models, but have not confirmed if they would have
the same trouble," a spokesman said. "We are now
checking it."
This was the second recall reported by Suzuki in
a week. The firm announced Friday last week it
would recall 110,323 cars due to a possible fault
in the accelerator pedal.
Honda will recall 79,605 Insight and Logo
passenger cars manufactured between October 1998
and July 2001 because of defective headlight
switches.
"We will also recall a total of 48 units of
Insight models in Australia and Singapore because
of the same problem," a company spokeswoman said.

Jaappanin merkissä jos on jotain pikku ongelmaa
niin heti pitää siitä tietty mainita. Onhan se
kuitenkin niin harvinaista. Eikös niitä eurojakin
ole valmistaja korjauttanut? Ja enimmäkseen olen
kuullut nimenomaan euroista tällaisia ongelmia.
,että autoja kutsutaan tällaisissa tapauksissa
tehtaan piikkiin korjattavaksi. On varmaankin
myös niitä valmistajia jotka eivät näin tee, vaan
ovat hiljaa isompienkin vikojen takia..
Autot kun ovat tietääkseni vielä kuitenkin
ihmisten suunnittelemia ja jopa jossain määrin
ihmisten tekemiä niin ainahan sinne jotain
sekundaosaa voi päästä joukkoon jos joku
alihankkija ei hoida hommiaan kunnolla tai
yrittää maksimoida voiton...
