Kesällä moottoritiellä 120 km.h on kierrokset noin 2400 rpm.

Lively acceleration and responsive handling are hallmarks of the best sport sedans, cars like the BMW 3-series. I don't generally expect that sensation in a station wagon, even one with the word "sport" in its name, but the 2006 Saab 9-3 SportCombi wagon delivers the goods.
The SportCombi competes primarily with sporty little European wagons such as the Audi A4 2.0T Avant, BMW 325xi, Jaguar X-type and Volvo V50.
The SportCombi's styling makes it more nearly a new model than a wagon version of the 9-3. The car's distinctive looks owe to its raked fastback-like rear styling, with taillights climbing from the middle of the tailgate up to the roof. The unique profile is reminiscent of cars like the 900 that made Saab's reputation.
The interior is equally appealing, distinctive and true to Saab's history.
The gauges and controls are simple, legible and easy to reach, as befits a company that got its start making fighter aircraft. A top-gun jet jockey can't afford to waste time processing unnecessary information on the instrument panel.

SAAB hits a home run!

Saabs remain an acquired taste — but I guess I've acquired it. True, the SportCombi doesn't have available all-wheel drive like competitors Volvo V50 and Audi A4 Avant. Nor does it have rear-wheel drive like the BMW 330xi, so at the theoretical handling limits the car suffers by comparison. But in the real world, few cars under $40,000 are so lovable, likable, practical and cool.

But, of course, the Saab is not German, which has long been one of its chief selling points. And this particular Saab is actually rather lovely, which is another. It looks great, for starters, with its "iced-look" rear lights; dynamic Nike-tick carriage line; and earnest, chiselled front.
Saab has rekindled its Saabishness but, instead of looking faintly orthopaedic as its cars used to, this one is svelte and sexy.
