** NEWS - Marihuana the best drug for Alzheimer? **
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Medical marihuana has more different uses every day. We are bombed with positive
research results. The Scripps Research Institute in California found that THC is
better at suppressing Alzheimer than any currently approved prescription drug.
It "may provide an improved therapeutic for Alzheimer's disease" that would
treat "both the symptoms and progression" of the disease.
THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory
and cognition in Alzheimer's patients, the researchers reported in the journal
Molecular Pharmaceutics. When tested at double the concentration of THC, the
commonly described chemical drugs Aricept and Cognex blocked plaque formation
only 22 percent and 7 percent as well as THC.
According to the Alzheimer's Association fact sheet "Finding a treatment that
could delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease by five years could reduce the
number of individuals with the disease by nearly 50 percent after 50 years."
