The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in Jordan has unblocked Skype’s popular VoIP website, one month after it banned the site citing security concerns.

Al Ansari Al Mashaqbah, director of the commission's regulatory department, confirmed last week to The Jordan Times that the security issues that led to the site’s blocking had now been resolved.

One month previously the commission had contacted Jordan's ISPs to inform them of its decision to ban Skype.com, and asked them to abide by this policy by blocking access to the site.

According to unnamed technical support representatives at ISP Wanadoo, Skype had been identified as a potential terrorist tool, because of the form of encryption it used which might allow hackers to monitor Skype conversations.

According to several Jordanian bloggers, including Ahmad Humeid of 365east.com, Skype’s VoIP service continued to be available during the site’s month-long ban.
