Finland edge second-stringers
A late rally proved the undoing of the make-shift Trinidad and Tobago national football team yesterday evening as they lost 2-1 to Finland at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
In-form striker Jason Scotland had put the hosts ahead at the half-hour mark with a cracking left-foot shot at the near post.
The lead seemed to be a comfortbale one with neither outfit showing fluency.
However, Finland produced a late surge to silence the 4,000 spectators present.
Experienced substitute Mika Kottila headed home the equaliser in the 78th minute following a deep right-side cross.
And two minutes later, Jari Niemi sealed the victory with a low rasping shot after being put clear by another substitute Antti Pohja.
Scotland had a late effort that rebounded off an upright but the Scandanavian tourists held on for the first win of their Caribbean tour.
