i dont think everyone hates black people, that's just some people being petty minded. if anything, people are intrigued by it. at the end of the day, you don't get that many coloured people in finland, so you might find some people are a bit predjudised but not all of them...
Did you know what kind of people we Finns are when you came here? It's true that people in Finland haven't got used to the people from abroad and honestly i don't know how much time do we need to get used to you. But... Think about this: What kind of people can survive in this kind of environment? You have to be a little bit crazy to manage thru cold and dark winter. And that's what we crazy Finns are... =)

I have a friend from Ghana. He's married and once he was visiting me here in Finland with his family.
They have three kids, so I was eager to take them out and let them play on the playground. On the playground there were two Finnish kids. When they saw my friends children they plainly stated: 'Let's get outta here. We don't wanna be seen with those niggers.' Luckily my friends kids don't understand Finnish so they didn't get hurt feelings.
I found the reaction of the Finns totally disturbing. They were also only around 5.
Thas is really upsetting to hear. Propably those finnish kids were influenced by the opinions of their parents. Kids often follow very closely what their parent s are saying and doing. Normally kids show curiousity rather than discrimination.
People are more tolerant towards immigrants/foreigners in bigger cities like Helsinki, (Espoo), Turku and Tampere. If you happen to live in some cliquish small town like Forssa being full of vocational school pupils, yokels and country bumpkins, I suggest you move to a bigger town or even city. As long as there is this much-maligned "amiskulttuuri," there is intolerance.
I like they way he/she mentioned word "amis". This probably doesn´t say much, but basically they were bullies or incredibly dumb in primary school and they chose some kind of vocational school just because they hate studying, and boy, finland is full of them. They usually wear cap with somekind of beer company logo and "hang around" in the evening...avoid them and you should be fine. I still don´t recommend moving into finland if you are easily offended, since fins just are what they are..we are kind of an "inner sircle of crazy white people"...its very hard to just "merge" in.

The main reason we dont like coloured people is not because of visitors as you but the Somalis etc and any other refugees who rape our young 12 years old daughters.
If you look distingiushed and in a maner that I'm blak but just wisiting Finland i bet you get prety good service.

There is a lot of racism in Finland, unfortunately, but it seems to be more of a problem with the men than the women. I guess the Finnish guys all have small willies and would like a big one like they say black people have:) Hehhee..
Don't worry about them, they're a bunch of wankers. I know racism is hard as I live abroad myself but there is nothing we can do about it really. Just have to hope one day these idiots wake up and get a life.
It is problem every where you live foreigner. Where ever you go, if you think you are citizen of that country, you are wrong. All the time, what you ever do, what you ever think, you will be remembered representativer of your origin country. That is truth and just need to get used to it unfortunately. If someone can tell place where is no prejudice or rasicm he/she is just a liar.
Just go and visit the big cities in the UK for example, and you'll see how well all nationalities can live together. You rarely see racism there.
The british people don't care what colour you are or how you look like. Of course there is some racism too-I think it's everywhere- but not as fanaticly amongst most of the people as in Finland
Just move to a countryside and you will see is it so simple.
