Osaisiko joku selittää nykyenglanniksi tai suomentaa "idean" tämän Shakespeare-sitaatin takaa?
Hamlet:
O, the recorders
let me see one
to withdraw with you
why do you go about to recover the wind of me
as if you would drive me into a toil?
Guildernstern:
O, my lord, if my duty be to bold, my love is too unmannerly.
H:
I do not well understand that. Will you play upon this pipe?
G: My lord, I cannot.
H:
I pray you.
G: Believe me, I cannot.
H:
I do beseech you.
G:
I know no touch of it, my lord.
H:
'Tis as easy as lying
govern these ventages with your finger and thumb, give it breath with your mouth, and it will discourse most eloquent music. Look you, these are the steps.
G:
But these cannot I command to any utterance of harmony
I have not the skill.
H:
Why, look you now, how unworthy a thing you make of me!
You would play upon me
you would seem to know my stops
you would pluck out the heart of my mystery
you would sound me from my lowest note to the top of my compass
and there is much music, excellent voice, in this little organ
yet cannot you make it speak
SBlood , do you think than I am easier to be played on than a pipe? Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me you cannot play upon me.

Hamlet:
Oi, tallentajat
antakaa minun nähdä yksi
kanssasi perääntyä(?)
miksi tahdot palautta tuulen minussa
niinkuin ajaisit minua työhön
Guildernstern:
H:
En ymmärrä hyvin tuota. Soitatko tätä huilua?
G: Herrani, en pysty.
H:
Rukoilen Sinua
G: Usko Minua, En Pysty.
H:
Anelen sinua.
G:
En tiedä kuinka koskettaa sitä, Herrani.
Okei en jaksa enempää, vähän sekavaa jälkeä taisi tulla.
No joo ...
H:

H:
G:
But these cannot I command to any utterance of harmony
I have not the skill.
G:
Mutten voi näitä käskeä mihinkään äänen harmoniaan.
Minulla ei ole sitä taitoa.

H:
Katso itseäsi, kuinka arvottomana minua pidät?
haluaisit soittaa minua
haluaisit tietää jokaisen äänikertani (kömpelö, mutten tunne musiikkitermistöä)
haluaisit kuulla salaisuuteni
soittaisit koko asteikkoni
Recorders ei tarkoittanut tallentajaa vaan huilun soittajaa.
Shakespearen tekstit ole vanhaa englantia, vaan keski-englantia.
