Please to meet you. Hope to guess my name. What's
puzzling me is the nature of your game.

  • I answered to myself by accident. My guess is
    Elisabeth...

    Äänestä

... this can be fun for a change. What do you
want to talk about?

Elisabeth, I can´t think any longer name, so many
question marks. The game is to chat in English, so
simple. My favorite subjects are books and
languages to start with.

I suppose you think ??????? and me are the same
person. We are not. I don't change nick inside
    one discussion-group. Think is unpolite.

About languages, how many you have studied and
how do you use those in real life?
    I have studied the normal ones at school;
English, Swedish and German. I started Italian on
freetime, but it didn't work out.

More about using language when I see that you are
there. I have no access to internet after work.

is only in the evenings and during weekends. I did
not think you two are the same person. Maybe I
don´t rush to situations so fast.

English has been my main language during most of
my working life. French and Swedish as well but
long long time ago. German I studied little bit by
    my self.

    Have a nice day

It's unusual to have English as main language at
work. I know some people that also have so here
in Finland. Do you live in Finland?

I use English a bit at work. I can get phone
calls in English, but as well it can take weeks
without "small talk" at all. Sometimes, but guite
seldom, I read a book in English. I think
languages are nice to know when listening to
songs and TV programms. Widens the world.

How was your weekend? I was rather busy, maybe
some day I´ll tell you. Now I have been watching
English TV series which I prefer. Actually I don´t
spend so much time with the TV after getting the
    Internet.

Some months ago I found the E-books and what a
world it is in itself. Thousands of books in all
possible languages and FREE. There are as well
very good programs which help in reading the text
on the screen. Short novels are ofcourse better
than long books. Like A. Tchehov.

Yes I live in Finland allright.

    Have a pleasant working day!

My weekend was rather lazy, walks and Donald
Ducks and so on. I should have shopped the rest
of Christmas presents, but - well - I didn't. My
TV is broken since about 2 weeks and I'm kind of
checking how long time I can live without. So far
so good. So you've changed from screen to screen!

E-books sounds interesting. But don't tell the
address 'cause I'm not planning to have home
    computer.

Still about languages, have you ever been
thinking in other languages except Finnish?

I was in a club meeting on monday evening. They
are quite fantastic chaps really. In the August we
were at the sea (Bay of Finland) on small ships.
The weather was just then very nice indeed, calm
    and temperature around 25.

Early April we are going again to Lappland to ski
and to have a good time together. Usually we have
also some sort of "management" training or
lectures, quite serious sometimes. It is such a
long tradition that we can do really funny things.
Once we marched in a restaurant singing with an
    accordion leading the parade.

When at work where there were no Finns around I´m
sure I was thinking in English, at least partly.

Where have You learned your good English? Have you
been to England or somewhere else?

    Untill tomorrow?

Nice to think about summer in sea when it's
snowing. Cold times are still ahead, but at least
    days are soon getting longer.

And what a nice club! Any info is there such for
women too? Reminds me of some crazy things I've
experienced with my workingmates. Sorry, cannot
tell because don't want to be recognized.

I've learned English at school. Languages were my
favourite subjects. I've been to England (only in
London and from there trips to Stonehenge, Bath
and Marlboro), some other European countries
(lost my heart to Switzerland and Italy) and
Russia. Longest trip lasted 2 months. What about

look forward to receive your message. There are
such clubs for women as well and I have visited
one but that was not in Finland. However it is the
spirit among the people and I believe the long
tradition which make a group so strong.

I think that I have found now something very
interesting and also valuable thing to do-with the
computer. That is besides writing to you. I am
typing recorded texts from MP3-tracks. These are
interviews of Finnish veteran pilots. I´m
listening to these tracks with Winamp player
program and typing. A bit slow but I enjoy it.
Perhaps later I am allowed to translate to English
some of these stories. What do you think?

I learned the basics at school as well and have
visited quite a few countries. My favourite
capital is London, absolutely. It is international
but still so homely. I started my stays in foreign
countries in Wales. Where in Russia did you.go?

    Hhi,

I feel like an intruder hopping into the 1-to-1
conversation here, so please excuse me.

I am just curious to know if there are many
veteran pilots around anymore - considering these
interviews were made recently. Is there an
organisation or a private person who is paying
attention to the matter apart from You? Well done
anyway, and good luck with your work! If it is
not so highly appreciated just now, it will be in

Thank's also for your interest towards me. It's
not so rush time now at work, so I am able to do
    this.

Interviews of Finnish veteran pilots connect in
my mind into 6.12.-celebrations. Maybe a TV-
programm or a newspaper column on that day.
Something new, not always the same movie "Unknown
Soldier". I'm a bit surprised they are willing to
talk about the war time. My relatives
continuously refused to do that when I asked.

Nice to hear you prefer London. It is homely
although so unbelievable big number of people
    live in the area.
Russia I visited with school class. First for a
second I thought I don't attend at all. I was
anything but interested. Well, without that I
probable never went there. And it's good to visit
all neighbour countries. We visited St.Petersburg
or Leningrad, or whatever it is called now. We
didn't see Eremitaasi or any ballet or opera. We
    did see soft asphalt.

again. Is the rush in your work connected with
    this time?
Here are plenty of fallen trees do to the recent
storm. Couple of days ago I went and just cut the
top of a fur tree and planted it outside the
window and put little lights around it. It´s
    beatiful.
The storm was bad, even a little bird died in its
little house when it fell down with a tree and was
    crushed.

In Wales I started working first at South Wales
Electricity Board but they soon found out that I
know nothing about electricity so they put me in a
local apprentice school with little kids. Some
frustration but in the end I enjoyed staying in Wales.

Next summer we ended up working in a Butlin´s
Holiday Camp. It´s in North Wales. The name of the
place is nearly impossible to say. The camp was
built for 11.000 thousand holiday makers. Can you
imagine? Do you want to hear what fun we had
there? It was quite a place.

Are you back to work on next Thursday?

If so may I wish to you Merry Christmas!

Happy and Interesting New Year to you. I got your message and read it before it disappeared together with my wishes. I thought you´d be back only on Wednesday the 2nd.

The Camp - it looked really like a concentration camp, with a barbed wire fence around, guards and barracks to live in. We foreign students started working already in May - in the kitchen. English Red Coats and Blue Coats worked as leaders and organizers of continuous stream of events. Everything was organized to the smallest detail...huh. Meals reminded me of the army, dishes had to be washed by hand. I think the cooks broke four eggs in hands simultaneously for breakfast. Eleven thousand people folded their napkins to be used next day. Continues tomorrow...

You said the other day that you could be regognized by crazy things you did. I can,t think of any woman I could regognize that way unless you are an MP on an actress? :)

About recognizing I wasn't thinking about you. Many others can read this conversation too, you know. What is MP?
Is the holiday camp for children or for grown up's? Voluntery? Unbelievable!
I saw movie Lord of the Rings the other day. Are you interested in that kind of movies? If yes, have you seen it and what did you think? I just loved it. The book was excellant and the movie almost as good.

One of the best things in the camp was to wake up every morning to Beatles´ "It´s a hard days night". Allways when it is played I remember Phhaeli camp. There were also many interesting people among the staff, like a medical student from Newcastle or a "bum" from Australia who was a cook. With his kind help we pinched some turkey from the kitchen and organized a party on a nearby Atlantic beach. We Finns and the Irish seemed to get along very well with each other. There were no Swedes among the staff, maybe they thought this kind of work too "low class". The Camp was basically for middle class British families.

I haven´t seen the film. My line of interest is perhaps more on "Välskärin kertomuksia", "Talvi-iltain tarinoita", "Rautakylän vanha paroni" ja "Linnaisten kartanon viheriä kamari", etc. Actually I think these would make wonderfull films. Please tell about the film you saw or any other interesting book.

In the morning I saw you didn't write. Now I see you did. Should have checked earlier, now I have no time to write long.
I prefer that camp-kind of travelling - abroad, not if I where Englishman. Also heard before that Irish and Finns get along well.
Telling about the film I saw or any interesting book demands more time and maybe a wordbook - which I don't have. Need to think about it. Those books you mentioned are totally out of my world.
You didn't answer my question about MP, please do.

MP means Member of Parliament. Are you one?

Heh, I'm not MP. Ordinary people can make big entrees to restaurants too. :)
I like many kind of books. Lately I have read religious books, books about origin of species/humans (2 pieces so I can say books), Matti Mäkelä (category normal books?), romantic, science fiction and horror books. For films I prefer violent films, but any "four star film" goes.
About continuing this writing, you decide. When I'm busy I can just pass one day or write short.

  • computer you have? Can you download programs such as a notebook or a diary. I know many addresses where you can get them free of charge.

What and how I am reading now is Richard Bach´s book "One" in English in paper form and the same in Russian as an e-book from my screen. Studying languages you know. "One" is rather strange book. Richard Bach and his wife Leslie move back in time to meet eg. themselfs when they were young.
He wrote also the famous book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". I have most of his books in English and can recommend them.

Why do you prefer violent films? Please tell me.

So you study Russian too. You didn't mention that at all in the beginning.I haven't read Richard Bach earlier, at least the name is not familiar.
I guess I could download notebook or diary. But this is a work computer and I'm not willing to spend that much extra time here after working hours. I have no home computer.
About violent films, I just like them. Why do people like something? You see something you like and you want more. Films and news are two totally different things. I loved for example Natural born killers and Platoon, but I don't have a habit of renting hard core-films. Not too much.

forget to tell you I study Russian language.

What kind of films vou don´t see too much, can you tell me Missukka? I can,t see enough films like "The English patient". You see, my real hobby is aviation and in this film there are beatifull flight scenes and old aeroplanes... well among others. A little romance is not bad in a film?

I didn't quite understand your question. I wasn't talking about can't see enough, I was talking about won't see too much.
The English patient was good book, I've seen the film a couple of times. I should imagine films with old aeroplanes are hard to find.
Of course a little romance in films is not bad. That's what films usually are about.
I checked the address you gave. Little disturbing those moving objects...

dreaming the whole weekend but what should I dream of? Any particular suggestions?
Anyhow most probably I´ll go skiing on a lake and shall stop in an island and make a fire and sit one hand on my cheek and dream.

You just descriped something many would call a dream.
Can't think of any suggestions, maybe Kari Grandi-style rescue of a woman of your dreams with an old aeroplane and living happily ever after. :)
Exclude me, please. Do men dream things like that?
I rented some books from library this week and shall read them. My TV is now mended, hopefully something nice comes out of there too.
    Have a nice weekend!

so bad I didn´t go to the island. Instead I finished typing one interview and looked for some new programs in the Net.
Yes, I drean things like that but a thought to rescue a woman with any airplane is rather remote because 99% of the women refuse to go near even an airport. Anyhow our airfield is a truly (too) manly place. Richard Bach was flying people from hayfields in America and there women were queing to fly even in an old open cockpit plane.
Which books did you get? Any interesting?
TV programs (American series) at least on Saturday night are so similar to each other that you can change the channel in every five minutes and can´t tell the difference. Right? The "Smaragdin kääntöpiiri" on Saturday evening was a more interesting since I have travelled quite much in South-East Asia.
    Have a nice day!

I agree about not going near even an airport. I haven't flown a lot, but once the plane was very small, "two propel-model". There was some air-jumps, stewardess was white, so was I, counting seconds (!) before landing - didn't throw out. Something to remember, though.
I managed to read 2 books out of 3. Matti Mäkelä I don't propably mention any more after this weekend's book. The other one was Milan Kundera. That was nice. Third one, which I haven't read yet, is fiction, Terry Pratchett.
If I remember correctly, I didn't watch TV on Saturday night or evening. On Sunday I watched 2 late night films - and didn't see Men behaving bad. It is so "me" to change the channel just when the programm I want to see is over!
What is the reason for your travelling? Have you a lot of photos/dias from your trips? Have you ever tried Asian healtcare and what do you think about it? Maybe you noticed, travelling interests me.

had such an experience in flying. Were was that, can you tell? As they say the best cure against the flight scare is to start flying self. Well, flying is like sailing, you can´t tell what´s good about it, you only can show.
You obviously have such a sweet and short memory if you don´t remember what you did on the Saturday evening. I didn´t quite understand what you mean by "it is so "me"....".
Maybe I am a little bit restless soul from the beginning so I ended up in working in export. Knowing foreign language and not being afraid of going to strange places. I´m not very keen fotographer. Asian healthcare, do you mean acupuncture? I did not try but I know people who did it with positive results.
Now I am prepairing a presentation for my club about aviation as a hobby. I shall concentrate on "virtual flying" which is fast growing way of using computer and the internet.
    Hope to hear from you.

My flight was inside Finland. Story wasn't about flight scare, it was about sick stomach, which I get quite easily. I don't fly a lot because I have two cats travelling together with me and only one pet is allowed. And I'm too used to travel by train. Flying can be like sailing - I believe you.
I have very short memory in some things, yes. I checked and I did watch 2 programms, both only partly. By "it is so me" I meant it often happens to me. Also when I should go to a shop and I don't know when it is closed. If I don't check closing time beforehand, I go there 5 minutes after 5 and it was closed at 5.
With Asian healthcare I meant acupuncture and species (correct word?). I also haven't tried, but I believe it works.

then we are equal because I don´t like cats vey much. As a young boy I once took a big stray cat in my arms and it bit right through the wrist. Some time ago I read a Russian book which is written - well like by a cat - what a funny book. It´s about Kisha and his "human being" and their adventures. What clever creatures cats are!
I have been busy with my presentation and now I have problems with the printer. A new ink cassette costs nearly 50 euros and I don´t know if that is the problem.
    Do you like shopping?

About cats, I don't know if it is cleverness. They let you understand something is ok and suddenly seem to change their mind and let you understand that too. That's just the way they are. And they treat humans as humans have treated them. Amazing they are, though. I love them.
I don't particularly like shopping. Sometimes it just must be done. Agree?
I might like flying but cannot tell since I haven't tried that. I like speed and high places.

haven´t I good imagination? Kisha had to be very smart because his human was a bohemian journalist. Kisha went even to Germany in a truck and on the border while hunting drug dealers found out that the German drug dogs, Schäfers, are complete blockheads (ihan pannuja).
    Do you alpine ski, possibly?
No I´m running around to get colour copies and transparencies for my presentation. They are darn expencive.
Could you send an e-mail some day?? From a library for example.
    Have a nice weekend, Missukka.

Kisha-story sounds real fiction, yes. Funny co-insidence, once one dog-lover gave "what dog you would be" to every member present of our working group. I was schäfer. Actually I do like schäfers, but I think they are more unpredictable than cats. I wonder what that tells about me...
I don't alpine ski. I downhill ski in Finland to some extend, but not in the alps.
ADP is expencive, you cannot help it.
Don't you want to discuss here? I have e-mail address, but instructions how to use it are somewhere "safe". I'll check at weekend whether I can find it.
    Nice weekend for you too!

schäfers too. When I was a kid I was pulled by a schäfer in a small sledge and fast and I loved every bit of it. Perhaps after that I have always liked dogs. Once in a very cold weather I kept the paws of a strange dog in my big warm hands and after that the dog followed me like a best trained one.
If you wish that we continue writing here it´s ok. This is really first time I´m chatting with anyone and only feel ackward if anybody else can read aswell what we are writing. I looked for other programs and came across "www.surfeu.fi", so up-to-date isn´t it? It has a free e-mail part also so I have there an anonymous e-mail address now. In case you want.
I´ll have the presentation on monday evening, suprisingly lot of work in preparation. What is ADP?
    Have a pleasant day!

Tell the e-mail address and we'll continue privatly. It might change the character of this writing, hopefully not though. It has been a bit ackward, I agree. But as you have noticed I like talking about myself. :)
    Automatic Data Processing (=ATK).
    Good luck for your presentation!

  • I think I have been talking about myself all the time. The presentation went well and there were many questions afterwords. This on-line flying is quite new thing for most of people.
Tell me something about your day, please. :-) My e-mail address is [email protected]. This should not change anything very much. I rather like talking this way with you but the imagination flies of course.
    Hope to hear from you!
