"Preston play down Moyes incident
Preston have confirmed they have dealt with an
alleged nightclub brawl involving boss David
Moyes internally and that the matter is now
closed.
Moyes was reportedly involved in a tussle with
two of his North End players after a pre-season
defeat.
Last season's beaten First Division play-off
finalists were sent crashing by German amateurs
SV Wacker and then went down to Turkish outfit
Kocaelispor.
Moyes is alleged to have punched midfielder Paul
McKenna and, after being separated by goalkeeper
Teuvo Moilanen, then reportedly ended up in a
scuffle with the Finn.
The Scot, though, insists that the matter has now
been resolved and that he and the rest of the
squad are now fully focused on clinching
promotion to the Premiership next term.
In a statement to Preston's official website,
Moyes said: "The incident which occurred at the
end of the club's pre-season tour, although
regrettable, has now been dealt with internally.
"The incident has received far more media
attention than was merited and the manager and
players are focusing upon their preparations for
the season ahead." "
