Tästäkö "sovittelijasta" pressa?

Tuon artikkelin kirjoittaja on joko ollut tietämätön tai salannut tietonsa siitä, että Haavisto itse erosi tehtävästään tultuaan valituksi eduskuntaan maaliskuussa 2007. Sitä ennen hänen mandaattiaan erityisedustajana oli jatkettu 30.4.2007 asti ja periaatteessa sovittu jatkettavaksi vielä siitä vuosi eteenpäin. Kun Haavisto oli ilmoittanut erostaan, hänen seuraajakseen valittiin Torben Brylle. Haavisto yritti koordinoida EU-mekanismia ja esitii enemmän poliittista ohjausta, huomiomatta rajoja asetuksille jäsenien asetuksiin. Tämä johto määrittää numerona jäsenien asetuksia, ennen pitkää, ja asettuu hänen kansaan enemmän hyväkyttävään menestykseen....

With regards to the proposed CHD-sponsored conference, Ghebreab noted he had seen no reference of this conference in the UN/AU roadmap, and that it was not mentioned in his recent conversations with UN Senior Assistant Pekka Haavisto. He observed that previous initiatives to re-unite the SLM had shown the futility of such efforts. He further claimed that this conference would break up the efforts of the Asmara group towards developing a common platform.

Reversing his previous stance, however, Haavisto said that ""we should not give them the luxury of time--they should come (to the negotiations) as they are.""
