Overseas attention to Russia's antimissile and antiaircraft defense strides follows from the United States' repeated attempts to buy S-300V antiaircraft systems (designed mostly for troops protection against air and missile strikes on the battlefield) and the S-300PMU system (for the protection of populated places and industrial facilities against such threats). Although several years ago the Pentagon bought S-300V elements from Moscow through the Rosvooruzhenie state company and several S-300PMU control cabins in Minsk through the Beltekhexport company, Washington has not got such missiles, computers or other sensitive elements. Without them it is impossible to envision the algorithm of the entire system, developers say.

Russia to supply S-300 to Belarus

MOSCOW - Russia will supply upgraded S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Belarus in the near future, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov announced after today's joint meeting of the board of the Russian and Belarusian Defense Ministries.
He noted there were only formalities left in this process. The minister hopes that a decision on the transfer of S-300 systems will be appointed by the government soon and a related contract will be signed with the Russian arms export agency Rosoboronexport.
Ivanov stressed this step would be important for Russia as well as for Belarus. He also said it was not important whether the anti-aircraft missile systems would be rented or sold. The really vital point was the protection of union's airspace.

Jaa että Sudania ja Irania vastaan varustaudutaan tuomalla NATO:n ohjusjärjestelmiä Puolaan? Jos nyt olisi ollut aprillipäivä, olisin veikannut juuri tuon uutisen olevan se aprillipäivän ankka.
Valko-Venäjän pullistelu sopii hyvin yhteen sen kuvan kanssa, jonka olen saanut maan johtajasta A. Lukashenkasta.
Ja katsotaan kumpi se kohta hyökkää, NATO vai Sudan... Sudanista on alettu kirjoitella siihen malliin, että vuoden sisällä jenkkijoukot ja NATO ovat Sudanissa, kunhan Irakista joudetaan.
