My understanding is that one should not use seroquel doses above 400mg or below 200mg. Withdrawal from high doses of seroquel/zyprexa can cause death - in 2-24 months.
V for Vendetta:
The truth is that almost all medicines don't work. Almost all are somehow toxic and
the idea is to give people meds that work for awhile but kills them long term.
1. First, there is children medications that are addictive stimulants, you hit receptors
to have desired effect and this helps for a while but overtime receptors desensitize and
you need higher and higher doses to achieve the same effect. Insulin is good example,
insulin helps for a while for diabetes 2, but long term it reduces insulin secretion
from pancreas and causes insulin resistance. It is completely dead-end.
Similarly, long-term use of sleeping which stimulate GABA-receptors in brain damage and
downregulate those receptors (similarly to alcohol) and cause addiction [but only slowly].
2. Then there are receptor blockers that block receptors that cause harmful effect like
antihistamines. However, long term use of antihistamines only cause adaptation in body
which means that receptors increase and you become more and more sensitive to histamine.
Yet another dead-end. Other examples are seroquel and certain other antipsychotics and
many other medications like ACE inhibitors, alpha blockers etc all which just mask
the symptoms, one gets side-effects and becomes more ill long term because body adapts
to the situation leading to worsened situation if medications are reduced.
3. Then there are stimulants or "poisons" like caffeine or adrenaline line like substances.
Caffeine causes stimulus by blocking adenosine receptors which leads to some brain damage
but also adenosine and GABA-receptor upregulation, meaning that one should be better,
when one withdraws - at least temporarily until GABA receptors downregulate back.
However, most stimulants really are toxic - like SSRIs. Red wine and histamine is maybe
useful but they also hit another histamine than H1 receptors but may reduce atherosclerosis
because they downregulate H2 receptors.
4. Then there are smarter and more complicated adaptogens which manipulate body using
multiple different pathways and methods. Typically fruits and berries are kind of adaptogens.
Some medications maybe too but the way current basic health care and medicines work is
very primitive and cannot heal anybody cause lots of side-effects which ultimately kills
the patient. In theory, one should constantly monitor body parameters (real measurements
instead of the ones that are not useful), have complete computer/mathematical
model of human body, fit model to the measurements and then solve for optimal control
(dynamic use of medications) that aims to steer (engineering term for dynamic
differential equations solving optimal control) body back to the right track so that
you are better when you discontinue the treatment. The current way medicine is practiced
only masks the symptoms and kills the sick. It is simply impossible to solve complicated
health problems the way doctors try to do it by hand and using medications/interventions
statically, without mathematical and computer simulation. In fact, people
who try to spread or use (few good) stimulants or doping that could (in theory at least)
heal or improve persons are treated like criminals. And SSRIs are bad stimulants.
5. Then there are herbs but they are often complete russian roulettes and almost always
leads to problems. One should also always use stimulus (exercise) and non-drug based methods
to solve problems (surgery). There is also placebo and I think placebo effect is overestimated.
Especially good example is internet which full of bad information or suggestions
to use complete dead-end treatments like increasing insulin for diabetes 2 or
lemon to reduce blood pressure which is addictive dead-end. But the biggest fraud
of all is to give people these treatments that block the symptoms and make people more ill,
instead of using stimulants to "poison" people so that they are better when they withdraw.
