Designer Spotlight is a regular column focusing on style and the professional woman.

Citizen’s Mark, the NY-based womenswear fashion brand founded by Cynthia Salim, focuses on combining luxurious materials and meticulous craftsmanship with ethical manufacturing practices to create modern fashions at accessible prices. Like fellow digital fashion brands Everlane and Cuyana, Citizen’s Mark shares with its customers the stories behind its materials and production to highlight its commitment to a responsible global supply chain.

“In everything we do, we consider how our actions shape the kind of world we want to live in. From sourcing to production to branding, our decisions reflect our values – respect for our workers, our environment, and our diverse global citizenship”, Salim says.

Citizen’s Mark is starting with a tightly edited collection of blazer suiting jackets – an essential piece for the working woman’s wardrobe. Each blazer embodies elegance and refinement with flattering, high-quality, versatile cuts, colors, and fabrications. Prices range from $425-$475.

Recently, Salim made a surprise stop in London, after winning a trip from Virgin Atlantic as part of their #WeWorkInTheAir contest to highlight cross Atlantic entrepreneurs. She quickly put together two successful Citizen’s Mark trunk shows.

Prior to Citizen’s Mark, Salim was a consultant in Switzerland for McKinsey & Company, an operations manager at UncommonGoods, and a policy associate at International Catholic Migration Commission. She earned her Masters in Human Values and Contemporary Global Ethics from King’s College London after graduating with a degree in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University.
