I have the same exact problem with my 2002 neon.
Purchased on 10/12/2001.
Early November the car begin driving funny on the highway and when idling. When idling the car almost dies and then the whole car vibrates. Kind of embarrassing...I mean it is a noticeable vibration.
When shifting from Park to Drive or Drive to Park...well actually when shifting into any gear....it goes CLUNK!
In the middle of November, we took it to the dealership service center, where they basically scratched their heads and said, "we pert near aint find nuttin da matter wit it". So they cleaned the spark plugs...those angels. I had never expected my brand new car to have dirty spark plugs, c'mon now.
Next trip to the dealership service center was the day after Thanksgiving, November 23, 2002. This time my friend and I drove the car around the dealership until it started vibrating and then we went and got the service guy to show him what it does. The car was vibrating noticeably...I was half expecting them to make some sort of excuse like the vibration is a new added perk that Dodge threw in the new Neons for all of the single ladies. We did not go buy a brand new car in the hopes that it would drive like my 1985 Toyota Tercel I was driving around in high school. We bought the car so that I would have something reliable to commute to and from work in, not to mention taking our son to and from daycare. They carefully examined the car (as if) and told me not to worry that they had to order a motor mount for it. They explained further that we should not worry because it didn't look like that tranny was going to fall out anytime in the next week. So we could drive it until we picked up Jerry's truck from post.
The neon has been to the repair place four times. This time though they tell me that they can't feel the problem. I say drive another car then drive mine...then you will be able to feel the problem. I believe it is a lemon, however since they say they cannot diagnose the problem, then apparently it is all in my head.
Today I was driving and hit traffic (construction), so it was stop and go for about 30 minutes. Anyway, I must have been going less than five miles an hour, when I had to make a complete stop and the car just died. It clunked into gear, then it died right in the middle of traffic. It is embarrassing. I dont know if I should continue driving it or stop driving it. The thing dies, it misses when I am driving. I believe it is a problem with the new transmissions they began using in 2002 models...so part of me wants to start driving it really hard....throw it into park when I am going on the highway or something....so at least it would break to the point the dealership would be able to "diagnose" it. It is so bad that I asked my father if he knew of anyway to break a transmission all the way without the dealership detecting it.
The car also has delayed reaction acceleration...I step on the gas and it just sits there and then clunks into gear and then goes, sometimes when I barely press on the gas it takes off too quickly and is kind of jarring, other times it doesnt even engage for two or three seconds. The car is a nightmare, idle probs, delayed acceleration, transmission slips, it misses...
And I like Dodge neons prior to this, I had a 96 automatic neon that ran like beautifully, so I think by getting a 2002 I am going to be moving up a few steps, only to find that my old Ford Festiva ran better than this car.

Chrysler Voyager on todettu Euro NCAP törmäystesteissä hengenvaaralliseksi:
"The Voyager did so badly in the frontal impact that it earned no points, making it the worst of the group by some margin. The body structure became unstable and the steering column was driven back into the driver's chest and head."

Lexus tops expanded satisfaction survey
With three models in the top 10, Lexus has emerged as the highest-ranked manufacturer in the 2001 UK Car Customer Satisfaction Study conducted by J D Power and Associates in association with BBC Top Gear and with the co-operation of the DVLA.
It is the first time the Japanese premium brand has been represented in the annual survey of the UK car market, which is now in its 8th year. Jaguar retains second place for the third consecutive year, while BMW improves to third place. Toyota is placed fourth, with Porsche, another brand new to the survey, in fifth position.
The Lexus LS400 heads the model rankings in the latest survey, followed by the Toyota Yaris, the Lexus GS300 and BMW 7 Series, with the Rover 75 and Lexus IS200 sharing fifth place. Six of the top 10 models appear in the study for the first time.
The position of Lexus comes as a result of leading the industry in both Quality/Reliability and Vehicle Appeal. The brand also places second to Jaguar for Service Satisfaction. "This mirrors owner experiences in the US market," stated Sargent, "where Lexus has been placed at the top of the CSI rankings for a number of years".
Continuing to deliver superior customer care, Jaguar heads the table of 38 brands for Service Satisfaction and comes second for Vehicle Appeal and fifth for Quality/Reliability.
Although prestige brands tend to dominate this year's results, with seven manufacturers of luxury cars in the top 10, Malaysian manufacturer Perodua heads the Ownership Costs section, followed by Skoda and Daewoo.
Toyota is ranked as the highest volume manufacturer in fourth place overall. This high position is reinforced by the Toyota Yaris holding second place overall in the model listing behind the Lexus LS400. The closest small car to the Yaris is its predecessor, the Starlet, in fifteenth place.
The Yaris has been awarded first place in the Small car segment, but it wasn't Toyota's only success. The Corolla - first in the survey for four years from 1994 to 1997 - ranked second in the Lower Medium segment.
The Large MPV and Large SUV segments also see Toyota cars emerge as the most satisfying with the Picnic and the Land Cruiser respectively. The MR2, Camry and RAV4 all score well too. In fact, Toyota have five models in the top 20.
The J D Power and Associates study is based on a total of 28,748 responses from owners of two-year old cars. It covers 38 brands and 182 models first registered between 1 August 1998 and 31 August 1999 (the 'S' and 'T' period). The study asks owners to rate their ownership experience in 77 different ways in terms of quality/reliability, cost of ownership, dealer service and vehicle appeal.
Vehicle Quality and Reliability accounts for 41 per cent of the customer satisfaction measurement after two years of ownership, with 26 per cent 'weighting' attached to Vehicle Appeal, 18 per cent to Ownership Costs and 16 per cent to Dealer Service Satisfaction.
