AutoWeek designated the A3 one of its 10 Hot Cars for 2005.


Automobile Magazine praised the A3's cabin, claiming that it "boasts typically fine quality, peerless ergonomics, and an excellent mix of A6, TT, and A4 Cabriolet design elements."


Test driving in Monaco, TheCarConnection.com applauded everything about the A3 from ease of parking to the new 2.0 T FSI® engine, which it calls "a techno milestone."


Inside and out, New Car Test Drive.com approved of the A3's "first-rate" interior, "fine Audi handling dynamics and a sweet new engine," and the way it "offers similar utility to a small SUV, with much better handling and better fuel mileage."


AutoWeek states that, inside and out, "It will be hard to mistake the A3 for anything other than an Audi."
