Sorry but I don't understand what you means by ' war of tongue' as far as undertand the matter, ther is not any war there, no at all becouste the so called lingustic minority is still part of the ruling class, desecedant of the kindres whom posses a great part of the whole properti of the country. Also must to member that not long a go there even not exist state like Finland, there was only the Kingdom fo sweden.

Than you for the referrals to the article in a little Newyork times by Lizette Alvarez.
I don'n know who is this Lizette Alvares or Henri Creuts.
There are many claims that should have been examine more closely but I have not time nor interest.
I just want to say that the Sweden have nothing to do with the question of Finnis language. The moust part of so called Finnis Sweden, sweden peaking people in Finland, are clear Finno ugri by they oring and were fransfered from Nord -east Finland to the West and South shore to be serve as workers into the mansions of the Sweden nobles, When the maste was the bos and the Lord it was very natural that the workers adapted to their masters' language. This, of course took place during the Kingdom of Sweden.
One could hera the language they speaking to sounding more like a lingo as proper Sweden.
Enough is enough=)

..anyway I am a Finn who loves speaking Swedish (our 2nd official language). I learned it at school at the age of 12. Then it was compulsory to start with Swedish, then came German, then English and so on French, Spanish, Italian, the last three more like a chosen hobby for us Finns. Russian too. I chose Dutch. ...now the kids can drop Swedish if they want. Then where are the Swedish speklers in Finland in the years to come? Nowhere. And yet there are a lot of older people on the west coast who only speak Swedish, like north and south of Vasa etc. Do we speak Swedish till the old folks die? Then nil? The government needs fluet Swedish spekers. I am one of them. This gives me job opportunities. After spending years abroad and having not spoken any Swdish (30) years I enjoy being back home and being able to converse in Swedish once again!!! Luxury? I kinda feel it is a luxury indeed. Besides it is fun to pop over to Stockholm and speak swedish once again like they do. Or to meet Danish friends and understand what they say in Danish. Also Norwegian is not too hard to understand for me. And Swedish is Not my mother tongue. Finnish is.
