Tässä hieman tietoja 2003 vuosimallin Saab 9-5:sta. Tietojen lähde on Saab Media Online, Saabin oma mediatiedotusnettisivu:
Model Year 2003:
Latest Saab 9-5 Range
Saab Sentronic gear selection via steering wheel buttons
5-speed automatic transmission for 2.2TiD variant
DVD-based satellite navigation system
Ventilated sports front seats
New door mirrors with automatic folding and dimming functions
Two new fascia inserts
Two new metallic colours
More Control
Saab Sentronic manual gear selection via steering wheel buttons is now standard fitment for all variants with the five-speed automatic transmission, except those using the 2.2TiD engine.
When the gear selector is placed in the ‘M’, manual position, the driver can execute swift up changes by pressing the right hand button and down changes through the left hand button. The Sentronic configuration allows close, finger tip control for a sporty driving style, in addition to a fully automatic function for effortless touring.
A five-speed automatic transmission is to be offered for the 2.2 TiD engine, which was added to the range earlier this year. As a result, Saab becomes the first manufacturer to provide a choice of automatic or manual transmission for its entry-level diesel model. The automatic variant goes into production in the autumn, when performance and fuel consumption data will be announced. Sentronic is not included in this application.
More Comfort and Convenience
A state-of-the-art, DVD-based navigation system, with a large 7.0-inch color screen integrated in the central console, is now available for all variants. A DVD unit in the trunk allows cross-border route guidance throughout Europe without the need to make a disc change (not available for US market). This option also includes a choice of two audio systems, both with a 6-disc, trunk mounted CD autochanger.
Saab became the first car manufacturer to offer ventilated front seats when it launched the 9-5 sedan. Now it is first to incorporate this comfort feature in sports seating by offering it as an option for the Vector and Aero specifications.
Two small electric fans – one located in the seat squab and the other in the bottom of the seat-back – draw cooling air in through perforations in the leather before expelling it through the bottom of the seat. The fans, with individual three speed settings, help keep the driver and passenger fresh and alert in hot and humid conditions.
New, electrically-powered door mirrors are adopted from the 9-3 sport sedan and can be specified with an automatic folding function, activated by the driver, which makes parking or maneuvering in confined spaces easier. This is available together with automatic dimming, to help eliminate any distracting dazzle from the headlamps of following traffic, including the interior rear-view mirror.
For the US market only, a remote control in the back of the interior rear-view mirror opens the garage door at home for convenient parking. For additional security it can also be used to operate the alarm system or lights in the home. A compass is included.
Enhanced looks
The interior can now be customized further with a choice of two optional inserts for the main instrument panel: a dark gray, walnut veneer adds a modern interpretation to the traditional appearance of wood and carbon fiber emphasises a sportier look.
Two new metallic finishes broaden the range of external colors. Merlot Red, as the name suggests, has a rich tone reminiscent of the color of a full-bodied red wine. Graphite Green is a dark, sophisticated color associated with sporty performance.
Constant Improvement
The latest enhancements follow a major revision of the Saab 9-5 sedan and wagon range last year, which included powertrain, chassis, styling and safety improvements:
·Two new turbo diesel engines: a powerful, all-new, common rail 3.0-liter TiDV6, offering 176 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, and announcement of the 120 bhp, 2.2TiD four cylinder unit. A new, adaptive, five-speed automatic transmission.
·Suspension engineered for quicker, sportier responses and more precise steering. User-friendly, ESP developed by Saab.
·Subtle exterior restyling to enhance sporty character of the range. New specification structure: Linear, Arc, Vector and Aero forms increase customer choice.
·Adaptive front airbags and retuned seat-belt deployment plus bi-xenon headlamps for driving safety.
The impressive standard equipment list for all variants includes: automatic climate control, electrically-powered windows and door mirrors, ABS, anti-whiplash active head restraints, an alarm/immobilizer and alloy wheels.
