A young Turkish scientist, Ahmet Yildiz, who determined proteins in cells work like humans, was selected as the Young Scientist of 2005 by Science Magazine.
Yildiz is to attend to the award ceremony on February 18. Scientific circles evaluate his discovery as a giant step towards the cure of illnesses such as paralysis, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
He was also granted $25,000. The young scientist marked the history of science by discovering how the motor proteins work in the human cell, which is the basic information in the treatment of paralysis, Alzheimer, cancer, deafness, and blindness.
Professor Ayhan Bozkurt cited, "The award given to Yildiz is a crucial contribution to the literature of the science world" and underlined the discovery at the cell level will enlighten subsequent research.
