Jokainen voi tehdä johtopäätöksensä Stubbin toiminnasta ns. Stubbgatessa viime syksynä. Ensin on tiedotustoimiston käännös ja sitten Stubbin tekemä laajennettu, kohua aiheuttanut käännös.
Hei,
kaivoimme vielä nuo vanhat tekstit esiin. Ensin parlamentin tiedotustoimiston tiivistelmä ja sitten ryhmämme virkamiehen tekemä käännös alkuperäisestä Turun Sanomien jutusta.

Turun Sanomat (7) writes that Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja is surprised about Finnish MEP Ville ITÄLÄ's (kok/EPP-ED) opinions over Turkey's possible EU membership. According to Mr. Tuomioja, Mr. Itälä has been strongly opposing Turkey's membership in the EP, even though he approved a decision of the Finnish Government that prepared the negotiations. Mr. Tuomioja also says it is a shame that the MEPs are not elected from the national parliaments anymore because that way the EP could be more representative and responsible. (enlargement, EP, MEP)
THE FOREIGN MINISTER OF FINLAND, MR ERKKI TUOMIOJA, SAYS THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IS IRRESPONSABLE AND SHOULD BE CHOSEN BY NATIONAL PARLIAMENTS
The Foreign Minister of Finland, Mr Erkki Tuomioja (social democrat) says in his interview in the Finnish media (Turun Sanomat) on Sunday 16 October that the European Parliament is irresponsible and that is why it should be elected by the national parliaments.
"It is a shame that the European Parliament is not any more chosen from members of national parliaments, thus it would be more representative and feel more its responsibility", he believes.
"If there is no responsibility, one can behave without it. In the European Parliament there is no government-opposition combination, which rules the work of national parliaments".
"By this I mean for instance of the practise of EU-parliament that they have always on the agenda resolutions of all going on matters of the whole world. Nevertheless those resolutions have not so much impact because the EU-parliament have no competence in these questions", says the Foreign Minister of Finland.
One of the items that Mr Tuomioja is annoyed at is critical viewpoints members of the Euro parliament has expressed on Turkey's membership in the European Union.
Finland will be holding the Presidency of the EU in autumn 2006 after Great-Britain and Austria. Next general elections will be in spring 2007 in Finland."
