This merger eventually led to British Petroleum aka Her Majesty the Queen to gain 50% of US market share inside the United States.

The higher oil prices helped fund the Bush Pioneer Campaign contributors and led to massive British Petroleum oil derivatives without collateral. This eventually led to the bankruptcy of energy giant Enron which was tied to the British Petroleum derivatives. The assets of Enron were then used to create Yukos Oil, a Russian-Israel mafia oil company that helped fund private oil trusts in Moscow tied to Bill & Hillary and punk George Stephanopoulos, ABC News.
P.S. The bagman linked to the OilGate fiasco was then Clinton Energy Secretary Bill Richardson. Richardson, now a Presidential candidate, is a pedophile and linked to the harassment of 16 year old girls.
