ST. PETERSBURG, March 3 (Itar-Tass) - Participants in the unsanctioned "march of the disagreeing" organised by the opposition movement Other Russia in St. Petersburg went along Nevsky Prospect to the building of the former State Duma where they have began a spontaneous meeting.
The demonstrators chant slogans "It is our city" and "We need other Russia".
Police and OMON units do not take active actions there.
The transport traffic along Nevsky Prospect from the Moskovsky railway station to Gostiny Dvor is paralysed.
Activists have organised the action despite the city authorities' prohibition,
Governor Valentina Matviyenko in her televised address on Channel Five on Friday urged city residents not to participate in the march. The information that the march was prohibited was broadcast in the metro.
About 2,000 people participate in the unsanctioned meeting.

laitetaanko ne aseet mielenosittajien taskuihin ennen vai jälkeen pidätyksen...
Suomessa kun poliisi pidättää "mielenosittajia" niin ne pamput ja polttopullot on yleensä ollut mielenosittajilla mukana jo silloin kun tulevat paikalle.
Rauhallisella ja "rauhallisella" mielenosoituksella näyttää olevan merkittävä ero.

Oma näkemykseni on että Venäjä on iso ja köyhä valtio, jossa on sisäisiä jännitteitä. Tsetshenian sota rasittaa Venäjää. Tämä purkautuu mielenosoituksina Venäjällä.
