Lexus IS ja Lexus GS on palkittu iF product design Gold Award muotoilupalkinnoilla. Voittajat julkaistiin tämän vuoden CeBIT messuilla. iF product design palkinnot on jaettu vuosittain jo yli 50 vuoden ajan.
Muotoilun ammattilaisista koostuvan juryn kommentit Lexus-tuotteista:
'With the LEXUS IS sedan, simplicity and dynamism would seem to go hand in hand. Bold, incisive forms contrast wonderfully with attractive surfaces to create a striking yet sophisticated dynamism. The stark contrast is carried over into the interior where strikingly, strong flowing lines exude from the dashboard to the door area. The powerful performance of this automobile is certainly matched in the overall design.'
'The Lexus GS450h is the world’s first premium sedan with a hybrid engine. The Lexus design philosophy is certainly very noticeable with the sharp visual contrast between simplicity and elegance creating a completely new, dynamic design. The distinctive Lexus silhouette featuring the ‘long cabin proportion’ creates a sleek exterior and roomy interior. The jury was agreed – a strong and unique design concept with the hybrid engine setting an excellent example.'
Kilpailun tuomaristo suhtautui huomattavasti kriittisemmin joidenkin muiden automerkkien muotoiluun.
'Not all categories impressed the judges. Many of the new automobiles exasperated the panel, which accused designers of pandering to their marketing departments. German carmakers like DaimlerChrysler and BMW particularly disappointed Frenker. "What they call design, we call mere styling. It undermines this event," Frenkler complains. In contrast to the Germans were the Japanese entries -- including the gold-winning Lexus GS450h by Toyota, the world's first hybrid premium sedan, which the jury felt expertly combined environmental concern with visual elegance.'

Eiks ole mukavaa, kun tojo osaa tehdä maailman parhaimpia autoja eli Lexuksia. Muut keskinkertaisia läjiä niiden rinnalla.
menee, karavaani kulkee jne...
tällä palstalla käy kova vääntö siitä että toiset väittävät ettei lexus ole toyota, mutta on se ja sen kanssa vaan on elettävä
toyotahan tekee kohtuu hyviä autoja ja se takaa tavallaan lexuksen laadun, mutta mitään intohimojahan se toyota ei kyllä koskaan herätä
koska jaksat kommentoida asiaa täällä.
Tosiasia on, että esimerkiksi edellä mainitut Lexukset ovat upeita autoja, kuten nyt saadut muotoilupalkinnotkin osoittavat.
Lexus kuuluu Toyota-konserniin, mutta on itsenäinen merkki. Käyttämäsi perustein voitaisiin väittää, että Bentley on itseasiassa Volkswagen, kuuluuhan se samaan konserniin.
