This nationally representative survey of 15,648 ever-married women aged 15-49 found that the practice is nearly universal among women of reproductive age in Egypt. Miehille se on pakollinen, naisten ympärileikkaus taas on "vapaaehtoinen", mitä se ei käytännössä tietenkään ole.
