Volvo’s next-generation S60 saloon is shaping up ahead of its 2007 launch. Reader Tuli Margulies caught this heavily disguised S60 undergoing cold-weather testing while out skiing in Sweden.
Reports from inside Volvo tell us that the Swedish manufacturer’s new saloon is being developed in close co-operation with the third-generation Ford Mondeo. A sleeker front-end will mark out the new car, and beneath expect a thorough overhaul of the current S60’s stodgy dynamics, with particular attention to its steering response. Inside, Volvo is striving to match the German class leaders quality, while headline news under the bonnet will be Volvo’s new in-line six-cylinder engine. Expect a four-wheel drive S60R range-topper with 350bhp and 295lb ft to take on the Audi S4.

Se siitä Volvon laadusta. Laatu on laskenut volvoissa sen jälkeen kun Ford osti sen ja alkoi käyttämään volvoissa omia komponenttejaan.
Sisätilojen osalta laatua siis pudotetaan jos kohti saksalaisia kilpailijoita mennään. Nyppyistä kellervää kangasta, lankkukojelautoja ja skodan nappuloita?
Saavat kyllä aika helvetisti kasvattaa sisätiloja, että pääsee lähellekään Mondeota...
mondeo on tosi iso lotja. jos uus kuuskymppinen moiseksi paisuu niin vaihdan merkkiä, en tartte tila-autoa.
mitään ratkaise, foortti on aina foortti. Mitä sillä mondeolla tekee kun ei se mahdu pysäköintiruutuun kunnolla. Vaikka se olis Volvoa isompi ei se tarkoita sen paremmuudesta yhtään mitään. Onhan volgakin isompi auto kuin mun Volvoni, mutta jotenkin vaan pidän Volvoa parempana autona.
Jos Volvo pienenä autotehtaana joutuikin Fordille,se ei tarkoita sitä,että Volvon laatu olisi laskenut.Päinvastoin.Mahdollisuus kehittää autoa on parempi.
Ford tietysti ottaa käyttöön Volvon pitkät kokemukset auton turvallisuudesta,etc.So.uusi Mondeo on takuulla hyvä auto.
Kuitenkin.Jos mun pitäisi valita,ostaisin uuden Volvon,Mondeo on jotenkin läyhänen,ulkonäkö on tollainen tyypillinen "massa-auton",auto sinänsä on varmaankin erinomainen.Mutta....Volvo on aina Volvo
