I bought this chip a while ago, but did not install it until I did some other work on the car. I wanted it to be the icing on the cake. First I got new tires; Yokohama YK420 from Discount tire (got third tire for ½ price). Then I replaced the front rotors and pads with Balo’s and PBR deluxe from BMA. Then I ran 93 octane for a tank. I ran 89 before so just doing this gave some improvement. Then I installed the chip:
The chip’s male ends did not match up with the female seat on the board (a little too wide). I had to carefully bend them so they were about a 90-degree angle coming off the chip. Mark, this is the only problem I had with the chip. Maybe your chip programmer bends them out a bit?
The prongs were like this ( /-- )
instead of like this ( |--| ).
Once that was over, placed the DME back in and started her up. Idle was the same, no difference. I went straight for the highway with the air conditioner on. I noticed an increase in power starting at 2500 rpm. The car felt lighter. It pulled away (better than before) when the gas was pressed.
Then I dropped the gear down to sport mode. This chip was made for this mode! Rpm’s were in the 3000 to 4000 range and when I pressed the gas, there was very noticeable increase in power.
The wife even noticed. She said, "All that from that little chip?"
Nice work Mark!
