Finland is making questionable new world record - a world record in the growth rate of apartment rents. According to Stig Tøfting, head of Guinness World Records Europe, Finland will see apartment rent hikes of 40 per cent during the next five years. This is the highest growth rate in all Europe, Mr. Tøfting says, and will likely cause terrible problems to all those who who have missed the apartment buy train.
Guinness World Records Monthly Magazine managed to interview one such individual. Pen name "Kari", who refuses to give his real name because he does not want to bring shame to his family, sold his house in 2001 as a result of idiotic speculation. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh", says Kari, before jumping from the balcony of his rentent apartment in agony.
