the companies use this saying if they need the person to do the best work they can to aim better results to use carrot as symbol for getting employees to work better and maybe they have some kind of compensation to those who do the work well to get them to do better and better so they use carrot and stick so called for to make worker to do the best AND IT MEANS THEY GET BETTER PAYMENT FOR IT.FOR LAZY ONES IT MEANS NO MORE MONEY

idioms? You are after a management position and writing the application in a language that is not yours. Perhaps you should use official language and describe your skills in a short and precise manner. When using colloquail language that is not familiar to you, you can go wrong!
Even when official might sound a bit boring, stick to it to ensure that you don't sound like a real plonker!
